A Friendly Challenge with Big Potential: District 5330 Aims for 100 New Kennel Klub Members
There's something special happening in Rotary District 5330—and we think it could inspire districts around the world.
District Governor Richard Lemire has issued a fun and ambitious challenge to fellow Rotarians:
Recruit 100 new Rotary PolioPlus Society Kennel Klub members before World Polio Day on October 24.
It's a simple idea with an incredible impact. Every new Kennel Klub member represents an annual commitment of $100 per year (or $10 per month) to PolioPlus until the world is certified polio-free. Together, those gifts help Rotary finish one of the greatest humanitarian missions in history.
Meet District 5330's Chair-Dogs
Leading the charge are four adorable ambassadors:
Teddy Sanderson
Monroe Sanderson
Wolfgang Lemire
Annie Lemire
Sporting their red End Polio Now bandanas, these Chair-Dogs are proving that our pets can be powerful advocates for a polio-free world.
As DG Richard shared in his challenge:
"Any type of pet may join. In addition to traditional dogs and cats; horses, reptiles, birds, monkeys, and any other type of creature that you love can become a member."
That's one of the things that makes the Kennel Klub so much fun—every animal can help make a difference.
A Fundraising Idea Any District Can Adopt
This challenge isn't just about District 5330.
It's a model that any Rotary district can replicate.
Imagine if every district selected a goal that fit their membership:
Recruit 25 new Kennel Klub members
Recruit 50 members before World Polio Day
Challenge every club to sponsor one new pet
Hold a friendly competition between clubs or areas
Introduce your own "Chair-Dogs" (or Chair-Cats, Horses, Birds...!)
These campaigns are easy to organize, create great social media content, generate excitement, and most importantly, produce sustainable annual support for PolioPlus.
