Welcome, Nabooru! Mexico Becomes the Kennel Klub’s 14th Country
The Rotary PolioPlus Society Kennel Klub is growing its worldwide pack once again! We are delighted to welcome Nabooru, a sledding dog from Mexico City, as our newest member—and to celebrate Mexico as the 14th country where the Kennel Klub now has a presence.
Nabooru’s pawrent is Dr. Karla M. Figueroa, President of the Rotary Club of Puerto Vallarta Sur. Nabooru is an adventurous pup with a personality all her own. She loves eating bread and tortillas, walking along the beach, and keeping a very close eye on squirrels, chickens, and cats.
It sounds like Nabooru will fit right in with our diverse and spirited community of animals working alongside their Rotarian families to support the fight against polio!
A Special Bandana Presentation
Nabooru officially joined the Kennel Klub after Glenn M. Gomez of District 5280 attended a meeting of the Rotary Club of Puerto Vallarta Sur and presented Dr. Figueroa with Nabooru’s End Polio Now bandana.
That red bandana represents much more than membership in a fun international group. It symbolizes a shared commitment to Rotary’s promise to protect children everywhere from polio and help create a future in which every child can walk, run, and play without fear of this preventable disease.
We are grateful to Glenn for helping introduce the Kennel Klub’s mission to another Rotary club and for carrying our message of fellowship and service across borders.
Our Worldwide Pack Continues to Grow
With Nabooru’s membership, the Kennel Klub now has members in 14 countries:
USA, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Australia, South Africa, Scotland, Mauritius, the Bahamas, Norway, the Philippines, and now Mexico.
Each new country represents another community joining our worldwide effort to raise awareness and support for PolioPlus. From dogs and cats to horses, tortoises, owls, sheep, bees, fish, and many other animals, our members remind us that everyone can have a role in helping Rotary finish the fight against polio.
Nabooru may be our first member from Mexico, but we hope she will soon be joined by many new four-legged—and perhaps feathered or shelled—friends from across the country.
